For years, Robert, a British man, was stuck in a rut. His family, his children, his job as an IT specialist, and his ex-wife’s insistence on always vacationing in Brighton robbed him of the chance to explore the world and see something other than the few sunny days in southern England.
After his divorce, one thing was clear: I finally have to experience and see something different. I’m almost 50 and I only know England. Isn’t that a shame?
In an interview Robert said:
When I booked my first trip to The Gambia, I honestly did not know what to expect. I had heard about sunshine, beautiful beaches, and warm hospitality, but my stay at Rainbow Beach Resort in Sanyang exceeded every expectation. From the moment I arrived, I felt a sense of calm that is hard to find in many modern holiday destinations. It’s a simple guest house only, but food, staff and beach are much more welcoming than all 5* hotels in southern England.

Unlike crowded tourist resorts, Rainbow Beach Resort offers a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. There is no stress, no noise, and no rush—just palm trees, ocean air, and the sound of the waves. For a visitor from England, used to grey skies and busy routines, it felt like discovering a hidden paradise.

The resort is located close to the famous Paradise Beach, one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in The Gambia. Long sandy beaches, warm Atlantic waters, and unforgettable sunsets create a setting that feels almost unreal. Walking along the shore in the evening was one of the highlights of my stay.

What impressed me most was the friendliness of the people. The staff at Rainbow Beach Resort were welcoming, helpful, and genuinely kind. I never felt like just another tourist. Instead, I felt like a valued guest. The security situation also felt very reassuring, allowing visitors to relax completely and enjoy the surroundings with confidence.

The food was another pleasant surprise. Fresh fish, local dishes, and international options were served with great care. Enjoying dinner with a sea view and a cool drink in hand quickly became part of the daily routine.

Robert continues: “My conclusion after this first visit is simple: if you feel similar and you want to experience The Gambia in an authentic, comfortable, and peaceful way, Rainbow Beach Resort is an excellent choice. For me, it was not just a holiday—it was the beginning of wanting to return again. And so affordable, I paid for three weeks at Rainbow including excellent food and all the drinks 1000 $ only. In Brighton I would pay 1000 $ for 3 (!) days only. And in southern part of England the weather is lousy, even in the summer..."

Jack followed his friend Robert and now both are feeling much better because “of the relaxed atmosphere and nice people of Gambia”. Both regretted not to visit Gambia before. But they agreed in Jack’s statement: “We’ll come back as soon as possible…”

The Gambia is a sun-soaked sanctuary for frozen Europeans. Year-round warmth and legendary hospitality melt winter blues, providing vital Vitamin D and a perfect, soul-soothing tropical escape.
